ALONG THE SHORES OF KETA THROUGH TO ELMINA, FISH PRESERVATION ISN'T JUST A TRADE --IT'S A HERITAGE.
Long before it was a business, it was a way of life. Along the shores of Keta through to Elmina, fishing families have smoked, dried, and preserved fish for centuries — not just as food, but as identity. This is where Setor's Hub begins.
Setor grew up inside that tradition. The predawn fires. The careful arrangement of fish on the smoker. The way knowledge moved from grandmother to daughter to granddaughter without ever being written down. When she moved abroad, she carried that knowledge with her — and the longing for a taste no supermarket shelf could satisfy.
So she built something to close that distance. Every product is sourced directly from the same coastal communities — no middlemen, no compromise on quality or process. Prepared in the state-of-the-art Ahotor smokeless oven under strict hygienic conditions, still dried under the same Ghanaian sun, and neatly packaged with the same honest care that defined the craft from the beginning. Each order is vacuum-sealed to lock in freshness, then shipped worldwide — straight to your door.
“The smell of smoked herrings, shrimps and variety of other sea-fishes in my grandmother's kitchen was home. I wanted to bring that home to anyone who missed it.”
See it live
Tamakloe identified a common issue with traditional smoked herrings: the difficulty and unpleasantness of peeling them due to bones . This led her to develop a method where the fish is deboned and prepared for easier consumption before packaging . This process is inspired by her mother's work but with a refined, modern approach.
